The webcam is an Olympus 6 megapixel, 10x optical zoom camera configured to operate in remote control mode as a high defintion webcam. The Olympus has excellent photo quality, color balance and saturation. The 10x optical zoom allows the user to get very close and frame the picture as needed.

SebecTec software controls the zoom and focus.  It also captures images, uploads them to a website and saves them to a hard drive.  With a large hard drive one can archive millions of of images and create time-lapse video of the last few hours, days or years.
On PortsmouthWebcam.com the program setup to make a time-lapse video every few hours so that you can see recent activity.  There is also a time-lapse covering the previous 24 hours midnight to midnight.
